But hold on - have you remembered to create a schedule of all those deadlines you'll need to meet? If you're going to be a good web site content writer, you're going to have to be prepared to get a lot of work, and you're going to have to learn how to juggle all of those jobs. To do this successfully, you'll need to be extremely flexible and work hours that you wouldn't normally work from being employed at an ordinary 9-5 job. At times, you may need to write content early in the morning to meet a deadline in a different time zone. Or, maybe you'll need to re-edit your work during your lunch hour. If you're willing to do these types of things in seemingly strange hours of the day, you're well on your way to becoming the web site content writer that others only dream about.

To get even more work, create a portfolio that shows off your fantastic works of literature and ability to juggle your time. Others interested in hiring you will want to read some of your prior work as samples, so be sure to have this handy when the moment arises. The most convenient way to do this of course, is to develop your own web site. With your own web site, you can simply point interested parties to your URL.

Of course, you probably already had this planned when you started believing in yourself as a web site content writer - right?!

Web Content is the hot wag. And well it should be. Everybody wants it, everybody needs it - and only a few get it right. Aside from porn, the Internet is all about Web Content, or so they say. They also say Content is King! That also remains to be seen. Users look for good Web Content, search engines demand quality Web Content.

What is Web Content
Web Content is dictionary defined as any data retrievable by the user including text, images, music, audio and software. In other words, anything on the web.
That's not what we're talking about.
Let's focus on text. Back to the 3 R's (of Web Content): Rich, Readable and Relevant. Let's define it again: Web Content is keyword-rich, readable, relevant text.

Search Engines and Web Content
Search engines power the internet. Search Engines live in a keyword-centric world. They want us to live in their world. We do. Keywords, their frequency (density) and placement, are of prime importance to the search engines and their elegant algorithms.

Keywords and Web Content
Keywords drive the search engines. Keywords are the words readers use to search. Searchers don't use natural speech when they query a search engine. They use a much smaller set of words - a mental shorthand. These words, generated by users, control the internet and have generated an entire industry.

Keyword Density
Keyword Density (% of keywords in the text) has taken on great importance in Web Content. Current Web lore says that keywords should comprise approximately 1-7% words of Web Content. Google indicates keyword density must not exceed 2% or the site will be punished for stuffing. Yahoo and MSN have a higher requirement for density, reputedly 5%. Satisfy one and anger the others. Go figure.

Keyword Placement
The Search Engines like keywords at the top of the page, preferring numerous highlighted keywords on the initial display above the screen break. It makes readers comfortable and feel they have come to the right place.

The Search Engines specify that additional keywords should appear in the final paragraph (at the bottom of the screen). Perhaps it's a nod to the occasional reader who actually reads or one who looks for a conclusion at the end. Or maybe the text analysis software was trained in classic composition and continues focus on the introduction and the conclusion.

They also stipulate that keywords should also be abundant in headings, titles, and descriptions.

Search Engines have openly declared their affection for the relatively short page length of 400-500 words, little more than a screen page, hardly enough to provide real substance or cover any subject in depth.

Other Factors in Web Content
Employ good grammar and use the correct spelling. Proofread carefully - no typos.

Can Web Content be written to the requirements of the Search Engines? Yes! Writing Web Content is difficult but not impossible. The keyword demands of the Search Engines are tricky and confusing but can be satisfied. It just requires a little extra effort. Quality Web Content can be readable, relevant, keyword enriched text.

This article has approximately 500 words. There are 19 instances of the keyword phrase "web content", at least 10 above the screen break. Keyword rich? Yes! Relevant? Readable? That's up to you.
