How to Make Money with Free Content

A proven way is to give away free ebooks and special reports. The advantage of giving away free information is that it gives you a chance to catch their attention. Once you have them reading your report or ebook, you can begin the subtle art of persuasion that converts them from a reader into a buyer. Before we go into the basics, I need to emphasize how important it is to write a good ebook. Yes, your main intention is to convert a lead into a buyer. And yes there is persuasion involved. However, if you can't be subtle about it, then it is better to let the information you give away do the work for you.

Overdoing any attempt at persuading your reader will turn them off And the other part of writing a good ebook or special report is giving away quality information. If your reader knows that she is getting information that she would have had to pay for somewhere else, you not only have here attention, but you will have her trust and respect. Everyone likes experts, because they know they can go back to them for more information in the future. I can't tell you how many free ebooks I've read that had no real content. Not only did I not visit the ebook publisher's web site, but I made a note never to go there in the future. It's disrespectful and it will ruin your credibility.

Part of a successful viral marketing ebook is having others give it away. You can give it to as many people as you possibly can, but if those people don't like it and decide not to pass it around, you lose out. If you write a wonderful ebook that people want to be associated with, you have just laid the foundation for a powerful viral marketing campaign. As it is, people want to be associated with quality content, as it makes them look better to their customers and subscribers. However, go the extra mile and let them brand their own name onto the ebook. You can get specific ebook compilers that will include branding software that you give away with the ebook.

Then take it to the next level. In your ebook, include links to relevant resources and products. A vast majority of companies on the internet have some sort of affiliate program. So, saying that you sell seeds, and you write a book about growing a garden, you can affiliate with a company that sells fertilizer, plant food, gardening tools, etc. Every time someone clicks on that link and purchases one of your recommendations, you get a commission. Ebook branding software allows others to brand their own affiliate links into your ebook. So, the downside is that you won't make any commission from those affiliate links, however you will give others a reason to give your ebook away, as they will be the ones making the money.

So what do you get? Exposure. You should always have at least two links back to your web site on the top and bottom of each page. You should also seamlessly weave descriptions of your web site and your business into the content. For example, if you are talking about a rare but beautiful type of flower that a lot of people want in their garden, that would be a good time to mention that they can get it on your web site.

It's so easy!

RSSUnderground Editor's Tip! Hey - do you want to have a free hosted web site that you can use for anything you want? The only catch is that these guys show an Adsense ad at the top of the page - but so what! You can still use it to promote your business or other web sites! I do not make any money from telling you this - just the satsisfaction of knowing I am helping my fellow webmasters and marketers find quality free web hosting! Look at my free site - Espanol Articulous. I haven't done much with it yet but it is a real site and you even get proper FTP so you can upload images and pages without having to use a clunky file manager! Check it out! It's worth it - it's free!

Once you've created the ebook, you have to find the people you want to distribute it to. Obviously you want to find people who would either already be signed up for the same affiliate programs, or someone who would want to. Here are some of the other advantages to using viral ebooks: It's cheap to produce. The only possible expense would be to purchase an ebook compiler. However, there are other ways to do this. You can convert a Microsoft Word file into an Adobe PDF file (the most common format for ebooks). You can do it for free by going to http://www.gohtm.com. You can use it as a tool to get people to sign up for your newsletter. Trust me. People will give you their email address if they know they will be getting something for free. There are many free ebook directories out there. If you submit your ebook to these directories, it will be more likely that interested parties will be able to find it. You can also offer your free ebook as a download in your signature at the bottom of articles, forum posts, and emails. Viral marketing has started to get a bad name, because people are starting to abuse the system and customers are getting weary. There are so many poorly written ebooks out there that are pure fluff for the sake of advertisement that people don't trust that they're going to be getting something worthwhile if they don't pay for it. So don't publish fluff. Make your content as well written and informative as possible. If you can't write it, get someone else to do it. You can find freelance writers at Elance. In the end, the more viral ebooks you create the better. The more ebooks you create the more bonuses you will be able to give, the more links there will be that point to your site, and the wider your sphere of influence will be. The more niche subjects you write about, the more you will gain the attention and respect of focused markets.

Another option is to require people to give their email address in order to get the ebook. You can do this especially if you are offering a valuable ebook. In other words, instead of giving the PDF file away to ezine publishers and webmasters, you give them a link to your web site that they give away to their list. This landing page would further sell the free ebook and require someone to sign up for your newsletter in exchange for the ebook. Then all you have to do is set up your autoresponder to email the ebook as an attachment.

Once you capture their email address you can follow up with letters promoting your product or service, or more information that would get their interest.

The Right Way to Write Content for your Website

The Inverted Pyramid

When you're writing copy think how a journalist thinks. Many people glance over the first paragraph of an article. Because of this journalists will put the most important information in this paragraph.

When you write copy, remember that most people are not interested in reading a long or in-depth sales pitch. So you either keep it short, or you catch them right away and lure them in. One of the reasons the internet has bred a palpable impatience in web surfers is because when they are looking for information, they know there is a web site out there that will make the information free and accessible.

Remember Your Audience and Your Goal

When you write copy and design your site, never forget who your target audience is. Don't try and sell to people who probably won't buy your product. Only focus on those people who are likely to buy your product.

If you waiver from this you will lose those people who might have been buyers, you will come off as unfocused and ultimately you will lose credibility. Never forget what your goal is.

When you design your site, remember that each page has to sell on its own. Each page needs to start with an attention grabber. Make sure that you stress the benefits early on and make sure you address the most important question that your visitors will be asking: "What's in it for me? Why should I stick around and read this page?"

As your first paragraph should be designed to answer that question right away, the remaining copy must live up to that promise. You can't promise people they're going to learn about how to build a rocking chair and then only talk about all the reasons you like building rocking chairs. They will leave and never come back.

The Closer

Two big tools in copywriting are writing a good headline and writing a good closer. Your closer is your opportunity to implant the goal for that page one final time.

This is also how you transition from one page to the next. You use the closers to show your reader why he or she would benefit from moving on. It has to have the same emotional urgency that the header has.

Remember that in order to get your goal you should have a defined path that you want your visitor to follow. In order to push them along, you have to give them a good reason for going from one page to the next.

End each page pressing the need for your reader to click on. Good tools are to use questions, or ellipses (...) or incomplete sentences or ideas that your reader needs to finish.

At the end of the page your reader will ask himself if he is ready to leave. You have to give them a good reason to stay, and the best way to do that is to leave them hanging. Keep the tension alive, and people won't want to leave it unresolved.

The Value of Good Content

You can win sales if you have good content. Good content is free information that's of value to your visitor. Good content creates credibility. It brands you as an expert. It lets your reader trust your opinion.

If you write outstanding content you will be playing on a subtle psychological tool in selling: reciprocation. If you give free and valuable content that will teach your visitor something he never knew, he will be more likely to feel like he should reciprocate by buying your product.

The content should not just be information about your product. It should be related somehow, but it has to have measurable value to your customer.

You want to make sure that you tie in your product with your content, and you want to do it seamlessly. If you put too much valuable information, there will be less reason for them to pay money for your product. If you make your sales pitch too strong, you will likely come off as too commercial, and people won't trust you.

A good way to deliver content is to offer a free report with attractive information. In this report, you are not pitching your product per se. You are giving your reader truly rich, valuable information which will convince them of why you're the expert that they'd been looking for. The other major advantage is that in order for them to get your package, they have to provide their email address. This way you can send them other reports in the future while subtly weaving in a sales push.

Pushing Traffic From Content Sites To Sales Sites

One of the most effective methods of getting traffic to a sales page is very well-known within Adsense circles (used to send traffic to Adwords advertisers through the Adsense program), but not as well known for traffic generation directly to sales letters.

That method is the content site. There are literally thousands of people making a living online by simply creating content sites, placing Google Adsense code on those content sites and collecting a check from Google every month.

There are literally thousands of others who have sales pages selling products and services who have never created a content site and pay for their traffic through the Google Adwords program. Much of that traffic is coming from those who are creating the content sites and placing Google Adsense code on their pages.

Isn't that interesting? If you have a sales page selling a product or service; how much could you save by cutting Google out of the loop? A lot! If you have been creating content sites and depending on Google for a paycheck, how much more could you earn if you sent that traffic to a site selling an information product of your own? A lot!

There is even more money to be gained with this strategy then you might first imagine. At first, you might be tempted to think that the only money being left on the table is the money going to Google for providing the Adwords and Adsense programs. Nothing could be further from the truth. If that was the only money involved, then the percentages that Google keeps are very small... their service is well worth that price.

But it's not! That money is only the start. Let's consider the following facts to see that we can actually earn a multiple of whatever you are currently earning from your Adsense check or from your product site if you cut Google out of the loop.

1. The Adsense algorithm isn't perfect. It often shows ads that aren't very relevant. If you cut Google out of the loop, you can make your content site to sales page site traffic 100% relevant 100% of the time.

2. Adsense publishers often only get 0.5%-15% click through rates on any Adsense ad due to a number of factors. The method I will show you in this article will deliver 25% of the hotest buyers from your content site to your traffic site continually.

3. Adsense is currently a negative ranking factor on all three major search engines (see RankingFactors.com for more information on that). That means that by running Adsense on your content sites, they are slowly losing search engine traffic month after month. By removing the Adsense and sending that traffic directly to a product site, you will retain your search engine traffic.

4. Many have reported getting banned by the Google Adsense program. You came to the Internet to make money because you wanted more control and freedom over your life. By getting a large percentage of your income from a single company (Google), you are sabotaging your efforts. You are at the mercy of Google just like you were/are at the mercy of any employer.

5. If you are selling a product using Adwords traffic, you also are at the mercy of Google and bidding wars. You must continually improve your conversion ratio or the ongoing bidding wars will eventually eat up your profit. Google (or Overture or any other bid PPC system) is slowly allowing your competitors to either receive more traffic while you receive less... or causing you to pay them more and more of your profit every month as you are forced to raise your bids to continue to receive traffic.

Wouldn'tyou rather generate your own traffic and not be held hostage to bidding wars?

So we are agreed that you want to cut Google out of the loop whether you are a content site creator or the seller of a product or service; right? How?

Well, first of all you will nead to learn the skills of the other side. They aren't difficult whichever side of the fence you are on. If you are a content site creator, you can pick up InfoProdCreation.com and have your own product 35 hours from now with 5 hours of work. If you are a seller of a product or service, you already have the skills to create content sites. Just write articles instead of sales pages and give information instead of trying to sell. Make it a multi-page site instead of a single page sales letter.

And I'm about to give you the secret to traffic delivery from a content site to a traffic site. It's very simple. Create a home page with only the following elements:

1. A very short 2 paragraph, 3-5 sentence description o your product or service (no selling here).

2. A large (size 6) link that says either "Enter Site" or "Enter Here". This link leads to your product site.

3. Three smaller links (size 2) on a single line below the above link that lead to the rest of your content site. They can say "Widget Articles", "Widget Reviews", "Widget Forum" or whatever types of content you have on your content site... about widgets in this case.

You will find that about 50% of the traffic on a content site eventually ends up at the home page. You will find that about 50% of those that end up at the home page will choose to click the "Enter Site" or "Enter Here" link. You will find that those 25% of the content site visitors (50% of 50%) will be fairly pre-qualified to read your offer. In many, many split tests, this traffic has out-performed Google Adwords traffic.

Have fun and please leave a comment and let me know how much more money you are making with this strategy. I would love to hear from you.

What can you do to fill your Web sites with great content

Most people that have been around in the world of Web Design / being a Webmaster will know that one question comes up every time when you want to setup a new site for yourself. That question is "how can i fill this beautifully created web site with content that will really add value to the site and makes visitors stay or return more often".

Its no problem if you create a Web site in a niche that you know everything about. If thats the case, writing lots of content yourself gets a lot easier because you love the topic and know a lot about it. If you are not familiar with the main topic of your site, but you would still like to fill it with great content it is a lot harder.

There are different solutions for different people. Some people for example have a bit more money then others. For those people a very good solution is to find what they call a "Ghost Writer". This is a person or a company that offers his/hers writing skill to write your content for you. You can often buy these per article and thus you can control the cost. This is one of the most expensive solutions, but also one of the most effective ones if you manage to find a good ghost writer of a good company that assigns ghost writers to your. (So they just assign one of their writing staff to your case)

If you dont have a lot of money, at least not enough to hire ghost writers, then perhaps signing up for a private label content service is a good idea. For a service like that you often pay a monthly fee of about 20-50 dollar. For this you will get a lot of content that is limited available. What that means is that for exampe you can get a bunch of articles about dogs one month, but only you and another like 200 people have received that content or will ever receive that content. This makes sure you dont get flagged by search engines for having only duplicated content on your sites!

Another very cool feature is that you can rewrite those articles you receive. That might not seem like much but it is. Like the article you are now reading is an article nobody can change but me, thats because i am the author of this article. If you place these kind of articles on your site you will have content and its perfectly valid. BUT when you create a site that only has articles like that on it, it might hurt your search engine rankings a lot. With those private label articles you can and really should rewrite bits of already great articles to make it even more unique to your site.

If you can't invest at the moment, using articles like the one you just found is great too, just make sure not all content comes from sources like these. You should walk the border between original content and free duplicate content.
