Improving Your Customer Relationship Management with Blogging Technology
Before I address the following questions: What is a weblog ? and What can a weblog do for your business?, let me pose a few "What if . . ." questions to you.
Keeping in mind that before your prospects and customers buy from you, they need to know you, like you, and trust you. In other words, they need to know, whether overtly or covertly, that they have a trusting and ongoing relationship with you. What better way to accomplish for them to get to know you, trust you, and like you than with a weblog ?
Now, here are my "What if . . ." questions:
* What if less than two minutes after creating and publishing your weblog , it were to be promoted to thousands of prospects without any extra effort or cost on your part?
* What if your weblog gave you immediate access to hundreds of international prospects?
* What if you had immediate access to hundreds of prospects in your city, state, or country who had interests and hobbies similar to yours?
* What if every time someone clicks on a hyperlinked keyword in your Profile that describes your hobbies, occupation, industry, favorite books, movies, music, or artist, your weblog pops up?
* What if every time you left a comment on someone elses weblog , you could leave a hyperlink to your web site, weblog , or email? (a mini no-cost commercial!)
* What if whenever someone enters your name or business name (completely or partially) into a major search engine, your web site or weblog pops up in their search results?
* What if every time you post content on your weblog , it would bypass the spam filters and instantaneously appear on your subscribers desktop without any extra effort or cost on your part? (- an excellent opportunity to get your sales, special messages, or time-sensitive announcements into their hands, or actually in front of their eyes!)
* What if your satisfied customers had the opportunity to place their self-generated testimonies on your weblog ? (Although some will take the initiative to do so, others might need encouragement. That's all right. Just make an incentive opportunity of it! Offer some incentive for their efforts.)
By now you should be beginning to see the powerful marketing potential a weblog offers you. These are just some of the powerful customer relationship management features a weblog offers you.
But wait! There's yet more!
* What if you were to combine these powerful features with other online and offline efforts such as a blogathon, teleseminar, webinar, online articles, and others?
* What if doing so would enhance your customer relationship management?
* What if doing so would decrease returns and refunds?
* What if doing so would increase sales?
Think about it! I realize that successful marketing and sales are still high-touch entities; however, I also realize that when you combine your high-tech efforts with your high-touch efforts, you're bound to be successful!!!
Now to answer the original questions, What is a weblog ? and What can a weblog do for your business?:
A weblog , short of web log, is an interactive web-based journal that encourages participation from viewers. It looks like and does everything a web site does and more! A weblog serves as an excellent supplement to your web site and other marketing efforts. Entries, called posts, are published by date on the page according to your predetermined quantity and are archived in the margin according to your predetermined frequency.
A weblog offers your business countless marketing options. Specifically, a weblog :
* gives viewers, prospects, customers, and subscribers who might have had difficulty in the past immediate access to you.
* helps to reduce your time spend distributing emails and other messages.
* improves your content delivery rates by 100%.
* improves your search engine rankings.
* publishes constantly fresh content.
* bypasses spam filters completely.
* improves your online visibility.
* enhances your web presence.
* generates more visitors.
and more . . .
So, if you don't already have a weblog , I only have one question for you: What are you waiting for? !?
Don't let this cutting-edge technology, this powerful marketing tool, pass you by. Online companies are popping up all over the internet offering you free blogs. My recommendation is that you grab one, or two or more! Most, if not all, are extremely easy to create, but may be time-consuming, according to your already hectic schedule, to maintain.
If that's the case in your situation, you might want to call in outside help. Consider the high school computer techie next door, or the college-age computer-major son or daughter of a friend who could always use a few extra bucks.
I leave you with this wish: May you always be successful in looking for and using new and creative ways to maximize your earning potential.

Easy Steps to Blogging Success
Imagine the next time you join a discussion about blogging. When you start sharing the fascinating blogging facts below, your friends will be absolutely amazed.
What is a blogger? A blogger is a cross between an educator, an entertainer and an orator; each blogger 'owns these three hats' and 'wears' each of them while in different moods. One other commonality between bloggers is: each blogger is in search of an audience.
Pack your bags! If you recognize yourself in the preceding paragraph you are ready to begin your journey into the blogosphere. There are only a few things you need to do to make your journey a success:
Find a home for your blog
Find a focus for your posts
Find a home for your weblog ! You need a host for your weblog , some are free, some charge a small amount per month for their service, some are simple to use and some require more technical knowledge, some have more features than others; choose carefully, once you've established your weblog and have a few regular readers you may not want to change your address (your URL).
Start by surfing the Internet and the blogs to see what bloggers have to say about their hosting programs. Don't get in over your head by picking a weblog host that requires a technical expertise that is beyond your current capabilities. There are many free hosts that are more than adequate to start you off and are customizable -- as you gain new technical skills you can edit your weblog template to make your weblog look like you want it to look and do almost anything you want it to do, all without changing your URL.
If you are using free hosts start blogs at two or three host sites just to see which one you like best and which one gives you the most capabilities right 'out of the box.' When you find one you are happy with, be nice and go back and cancel your other blogs.
Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you're fully informed about blogging, keep reading.
Find a focus for your posts! Most every weblog has a theme, a theme that sets the tone for most (not necessarily all) of the posts on that weblog . Your weblog can be a topical weblog that focuses on a special interest of yours (politics, religion, health care, science, engineering, cooking etc.); a personal weblog that focuses on what you are doing that day, where you have been, where you are going or any aspect of your life's journey; or a showcase weblog that displays your writing, art, photography, or etc.. Some posts will not fall into your blogs main theme and that's OK -- your weblog is a reflection of you, and we all have different moods . . . we all 'wear different hats;' don't decide not to post just because you feel like writing 'something different.'
"Bletiquette!" The objective of most bloggers is to attract a regular readership; to do that you need to display some basic (really common sense) weblog etiquette (bletiquette!):
When commenting on a post, stick to the point, don't get personal or abusive.
Never comment as "Anonymous;" if you are ashamed to use your actual blogger name, don't comment.
Try to respond to all comments on your post, even if it is just to say "thanks for commenting" (but don't expect all bloggers to do this).
Don't get personal by asking personal questions unless you have a long-standing relationship with the other blogger; bloggers enjoy the relative anonymity of a weblog and a blogger name.
If you are "flamed" (verbally attacked for something you wrote) don't get into a "flame war;" respond politely or not at all.
Never take a block of text, a unique phrase, a picture, a graphic or anything else from another weblog or from any web page and use it in your post as is, without clearly indicating where it came from.
Persevere! Bloggers weblog ! That's what they do! If you post every day you will improve not only your technique but also your readership; don't give up.
Bloggers are very much like novelists. Novelists write every day and finally reach the end of the novel. Then they submit the novel to publishers, file their rejection notices and resubmit to other publishers. Eventually, every novelist who perseveres gets published . . . eventually every blogger who perseveres gets a loyal readership and his or her own measure of success.
